Vern and Lois Raak, Iowa natives, wanted to do something special for Hope Haven and decided the best vehicle to support the agency was to exchange a gift of land for a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA). This is a gift whereby a donor can give cash or property to charity and in exchange, benefit from a tax deduction and a lifetime stream of annual income from the gift (the deduction is determined by donor's age). Vern is a long-time volunteer at the wheelchair shops in Rock Valley and Ireton, IA and has a heart for supporting the agency's work.
"Lois and I wanted to share a living legacy gift with Hope Haven so we decided to donate land in exchange for a CGA. This was the best option for us and a way to support Hope Haven and Hope Haven International." When Vern and Lois pass away, the gift will be left to Hope Haven and they will leave their legacy by supporting the on-going efforts of helping people in need in the Midwest and around the world.
